End of the year test taking tips!

We are drawing nearer to testing time. Parents, here are some strategies you can employ at home to help your child prepare for the End of Grade tests:

Before the Test:
  • Get plenty of rest the night before the test.
  • Eat a nutritious breakfast the day of the test.
Multiple Choice Test Taking Tips
  • Come up with the answer in your head before looking at the possible answers, this way the choices given won’t trick you.
  • Eliminate answers you know aren’t correct.
  • Read all choices before choosing your answer.
  • Don’t keep changing your answer; usually your first choice is the right one, unless you misread the question.
  • A positive choice is more likely to be true than a negative one.
  • Usually the correct answer is the choice with the most information.
  • Answer each question.  With the North Carolina End-of-Grade and End-of-Course Tests, you are not penalized by having a wrong answer…your scores come from the number of correct answers you have.
